Free calculators for German employment law and tax. Based on official regulations.
Germany has a robust system of employment protection regulated by the Kundigungsschutzgesetz (Protection Against Dismissal Act), Bundeselterngeld- und Elternzeitgesetz (Parental Allowance Act), and Einkommensteuergesetz (Income Tax Act). Employees in Germany are entitled to Abfindung (severance pay) in many dismissal scenarios, generous Elterngeld (parental allowance), and various tax deductions.
Our German calculators follow the official formulas published by the Bundesministerium fur Arbeit und Soziales and the Finanzamt. All tools are updated for the 2026 tax year. Whether you need to estimate your Abfindung after termination, calculate your Elterngeld entitlement, or check your Lohnsteuer bracket, these free tools give you a fast and dependable answer.
The standard Abfindung formula in Germany is half a monthly gross salary per year of employment, although individual agreements often differ. Elterngeld replaces 65% to 67% of net income up to a cap of EUR 1,800 per month for Basiselterngeld, with a minimum of EUR 300. ElterngeldPlus extends the payment period at a reduced monthly rate. Both are administered by the local Elterngeldstelle.
